Woman saved from burning Hobart unit

Firefighters have rescued a woman who they found unconscious in the bedroom of her burning North Hobart unit.

"If it wasn't for the quick action of firefighters on our arrival, it is a very real possibility that we could have had a fatality last night," Senior Station Officer Peter Tavasz said in a statement.

He also praised the residents of the unit block who tried to extinguish the fire on Saturday night and rescue the woman, with one suffering to smoke inhalation in doing so.
