A one-year-old Tasmanian girl died after contracting a gastro virus, a coroner has found.

The 19-month-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was taken to an east coast hospital in October 2015 with a high temperature, fast pulse, mottled skin and floppy body after suffering a convulsion, and despite desperate attempts by medical staff, she died.

"The cause of (her) death was due to natural causes ... further inquires determined that it was impossible to identify the source of the virus," coroner Simon Cooper wrote in his findings published on Thursday.
