George Town men charged over fake $50 notes

Two men have been arrested over counterfeit $50 notes that were passed off as real in businesses throughout northern Tasmania.
Police charged the 22-year-old man and a 43-year-old man, both from George Town, with possessing the fake notes.

Both men will appear in Launceston Magistrates Court at a later date, Tasmania Police said in a statement.
"Although we have charged two people, our investigation into counterfeit money continues. Counterfeit notes continue to be circulated and the need for vigilance remains," Detective Senior Sergeant John Parker said this afternoon.
