Double fatality in Hobart home

Police are investigating the deaths of two men in suburban Hobart.

Officers were called to the northern suburb of Bridgewater about 7.30pm on Wednesday where they said the deaths had occurred inside a house.

"It's too early to speculate on the cause," a senior officer said, adding it was believed to be an isolated event with no further fears for public safety.

Both were aged in their 30s, neighbours say.

One was shot and the other had been repeatedly stabbed, the ABC reported.

The pair were known to each other, police said in a statement confirming the injuries.

They said it appeared there had been some sort of confrontation in the house resulting in the double fatality.
