Triabunna claims Tas Tidy Town award
The small east coast centre of Triabunna has been named Tasmania's Tidy Town for 2015.
Announcing the award winner on Friday, Keep Australia Beautiful local boss Geoff Marsh cited qualities including a rich historical background, environmental conservation, marine activities and litter management.
Triabunna has struggled with a downturn in forest industry activity but remained positive, he said.
"While it has faced much publicised significant economic and community challenges, it has done so with innovation and collaboration to emerge as a revitalised and stronger community with a sustainable future."
Tasmania's sustainable city award went to Glenorchy on the northern outskirts of Hobart, while the southern Dover Beach claimed the state's cleanest beach gong.
