Teen dies in Tasmanian ute crash

An 18-year-old provisional driver has died after he lost control of the ute he was driving and crashed into an oncoming car in Tasmania.

Police say the accident happened at about 4.50pm on Friday on Lillydale Road between Rocherlea and Lillydale, with the driver of a Holden utility losing control on a sweeping left hand bend.

He crossed into the opposite lane and crashed into a VW Golf.

The driver of the utility was pronounced dead at the scene shortly afterwards.
