Tasmanian woman dies after bus smash

A woman driver has died after careening onto the wrong side of the road and smashing into an oncoming bus in Tasmania.

The 55-year-old woman was driving along Penquite Road in Launceston when she drove into the path of a bus about 9.30 am on Thursday.

The bus driver and his only passenger were treated at the scene for shock but escaped unharmed, while the woman died in hospital.
