The forestry industry in Tasmania will stop receiving government subsidies worth more than $100 million under proposed new laws.

The state government is introducing legislation in parliament this week that it says will end $100 million in subsidies to Forestry Tasmania.

"Our legislation will end the subsidies by making available for harvest trees formerly locked up ... which can be harvested more economically," Resources Minister Guy Barnett said in a statement on Sunday.
