Tas sets new spring temperature record

Several centres across Tasmania have broken seasonal temperature records as the mercury peaked at 33.6C on Tuesday.
Friendly Beaches on the state's east coast was the hottest, followed by 32.7C at Hobart Airport and Campania, and on Flinders Island, the Bureau of Meteorology reported.
Hobart city reached 31.7C at midday, surpassing the city's previous spring record of 31C in September 1987.

"We haven't recorded above 31C before at this time of year anywhere in Tasmania," forecaster Alex Melitsis told AAP.
