Tas man free from car with minor injuries

A Tasmanian man who was trapped in his car for more than an hour after hitting a tree has been safely freed.

Police say the man, the sole occupant of a Toyota Prado 4WD, crashed into a tree just before 5pm on Sunday while driving along Pinnacle Road, Fern Tree.

Paramedics and the Tasmanian Fire Brigade have since freed the driver, who was trapped by the legs.

He has been taken been taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Pinnacle Road has been reopened.
