Tas man nabbed for taking cross from altar

A Hobart man has been charged after a one metre-tall solid brass cross was stolen from St David's Cathedral.

Police on Sunday said they recovered the cross from a Bridgewater home and returned it to the cathedral where it was stolen from the altar on October 23.

A 24-year-old man has been charged with stealing the cross, which weighs 10 kilos and is reportedly worth $20,000.
