Tas firefighters need pat on back: report
AAP
Volunteer firefighters need a pat on the back and Tasmania's government should do more to acknowledge their efforts, a parliamentary inquiry has found.
A report into the State Fire Commission, Tasmania's peak fire governance agency, was released on Wednesday and makes 10 recommendations including a centralised funding model to underpin core services.
"The committee finds that ... volunteer firefighters are at risk of being undervalued and underrated and that the government should use best endeavours to ensure the full acknowledgement and recognition of these services," the report reads.
