Tas drink drivers can't hide this Xmas

Tasmania's back roads won't offer motorists the chance to disobey the law this festive season, with police vowing to crackdown in rural areas as part of their statewide safety campaign.

Along with targeting known hot spots for speeding and drink driving, officers will pop up on lesser known routes, said police commissioner Darren Hine.

Police will be patrolling alternative routes out of towns and cities, targeting the back streets, rural roads and entertainment districts," he said on Monday.
