Tas dam levels continue to decline

Tasmania's hydro-electric dam levels have dropped to 12.8 per cent and are nearing their forecast minimum as the state continues to juggle energy supply demands.

Energy minister Matthew Groom on Tuesday revealed the drop from 13.4 per cent over the past seven days, as the island relies on diesel generators with a Bass Strait electricity cable also damaged and inoperable.

"The projection has been for storages to reach a low of approximately 12 per cent by early May, with half of average inflows, and this continues to be the case," Mr Groom said in a statement.
