Tas cemetery burglary accused charged

Two people have been charged over the theft of tools used to restore headstones for war veterans at Hobart's main cemetery.

Thieves targeted the cemetery on Monday, making off with the power tools and a white Toyota Hilux.

Dectectives on Wednesday charged a 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman with burglary from a funeral business at Cornelian Bay cemetery.

A third person, a 33-year-old man, is also believed to be involved.

Detective Inspector Craig Joel said the power tools had been used by a not-for-profit organisation to restore headstones for war veterans.

The two charged will appear in Hobart Magistrates Court on April 10.
