Squabble over Tasmanian energy inquiry

A parliamentary committee formed to investigate Tasmania's 2016 energy crisis will prepare a special report after being accused of leaking sensitive information.

Treasurer Peter Gutwein has been summonsed to face the public accounts committee on March 30 to produce advice about the proposed sale of the Tamar Valley Power Station, and in response the government has pointed to the committee's repeated release of information to journalists.

"The public accounts committee has resolved to prepare a special report in relation to the alleged disclosure of confidential (privileged) information associated with the current energy entities inquiry to third parties," committee chairman Ivan Dean said in a statement on Thursday, adding the report would be tabled during the next parliamentary sitting week.
