Police used road spikes and a helicopter to arrest brothers in northern Tasmania who were later charged with theft and driving offences.

Dean Nichols, 35, and his 31-year-old sibling Andrew were arrested in separate vehicles late on Tuesday after they allegedly evaded police at Port Sorell.

"We utilised various resources, including the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and road spikes to assist us in safely arresting the offenders," Detective Inspector Kim Steven said, adding that the pair faced an after-hours court and were remanded in custody.
