Some Tas dams now brimming: Groom

Tasmania's hydro-electric scheme dam levels have gone from near-dry to being at risk of spilling over after flooding rains.

Capacity across the scheme has reached 27.1 per cent which Energy Minister Matthew Groom on Tuesday said is more than a doubling of storage since the start of May, as the state declares its supply crisis has ended and it's again exporting power to mainland Australia.

"Many of the storages are now full or close to spilling water," Mr Groom told parliament, adding that diesel-powered backup generators brought in to keep the lights on are being decommissioned.
