Six-year low for Tas unemployment

Tasmania's jobless rate is at its lowest level in six years.

The island state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for May was 6.1 per cent according to ABS data released on Thursday and the Liberal government says there are more Tasmanians than ever in work.

"Our unemployment rate is the lowest it's been in six years and, pleasingly, the participation rate continues to rise as more Tasmanians look for work and find a job," Treasurer Peter Gutwein said.
