Shorten to be Tas Labor's keynote speaker

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten will visit Hobart on Saturday and make a keynote address to the Tasmanian Labor Party conference.

Mr Shorten will be joined at the conference by federal parliamentary colleagues including Julie Collins, Mark Butler and Carol Brown.

His attendance at the island state's annual gathering will be the first as opposition leader, after Penny Wong gave the keynote address in 2014 just four months after Tasmanian Labor lost government in a landslide defeat.
