Shooters and Fishers Party on Tas register

The Shooters and Fishers Party has spread its wings to Tasmania, with senior members hailing the group as Australia's fastest-growing political movement.

The party, which advocates the rights of outdoor sports including the expansion of responsible firearm use, actually registered with the Tasmanian Electoral Commission in March but chairman Matthew Allen waited until Friday to share the news and says the movement is gaining traction as more people feel victimised by "green bureaucracy gone mad".

"Our environmental policies are centred on the sustainable use of our land and waterways, through active management that respects the role that recreational hunters and fishers can play throughout this process," he said in a statement.
