Punter joins Tas trade mission to India

Former Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting will again fly the flag for his home state overseas when he joins a Tasmanian trade mission to India.

A delegation led by Premier Will Hodgman hopes to attract plenty of attention in the cricket-loving nation thanks to Ponting's status including his role as head coach of the IPL Mumbai Indians.

"Ricky will actively participate in the Indian leg of the trade mission engaging high-level business contacts, promoting education initiatives with ties to Launceston and in promoting Tasmania as a world-class destination with high quality experiences, food and beverages," Mr Hodgman said.
