Plans to down tools by Tassie teachers

Tasmania's government school teachers will hold stop-work meetings on their first day back in the classroom, objecting to ongoing under-resourcing issues.

The state branch of the Australian Education Union on Wednesday said half-hour stop-work meetings will be undertaken on Monday, February 4 which is a student-free day, in objection to class numbers and a two per cent pay rise offer.

"Kids will continue to miss out on the in-class support they need and Tasmania's experienced teachers will still be lowest paid under the (state) government's current offer which is unacceptable on both counts," said Ms Madsen.
