No early election for Tas: Hodgman

Tasmania's premier Will Hodgman has committed his Liberal government to run its full four-year term, ruling out an early election.

Voters in the island state are due to go to the polls in March 2018 but there has been growing talk of a trip to the ballot boxes a year early amid Mr Hodgman's steady approval ratings and a change in the Labor opposition leader.

"We're committed to delivering our plan, delivering four years of government. We've never wanted anyone to expect an early election because I think it's the last thing anyone would want. The election is due next year, that's when we plan to hold the election," the premier told ABC radio on Friday.
