Motorcyclist killed in Tasmania

A motorcyclist has died in a collision with a four-wheel-drive vehicle on a Tasmanian highway.

Police say the 21-year-old man was riding on the East Derwent Highway at Geilston Bay at about 4.45pm on Saturday when he hit a Land Rover Discovery entering the highway from a side road.

The man died at the scene.

The 71-year-old driver of the Land Rover and his wife were not injured.
