Vic motorcyclist dies in Tasmania crash

A female motorcyclist from Victoria has died in a multi-vehicle crash in Tasmania's northwest.

The 56-year-old, who was riding a black Harley-Davidson, veered into the path of an oncoming station wagon at Wynyard about 9am on Friday.

Three other motorbikes were also involved in the crash. Four people were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police believe inattention caused the crash, which closed a section of the Bass Highway for several hours.

A male driver died in a separate crash after suffering a medical episode on the Bass Highway in Hagley when his car hit the safety rails, before coming to stop on railway tracks.
