Hobart man in custody over historic church blaze

A man is in custody after a 150-year-old church was set on fire and another property destroyed in Hobart.

A residential property in Police Point was destroyed by fire, while St Mary Our Hope Church in Dover was damaged by fire on Friday night.

Attempts were also made to set another Police Point residence on fire.

The 47-year-old man is in custody as police continue their investigations.
