Man charged after standoff with Tas cops

A man is in custody after he threatened police with a firearm in Hobart's north.

The 40-year-old Chigwell man is due to face court on Saturday after he threatened police and threaten to hurt himself when they responded to a family violence incident.

Police closed Tootonga Street and negotiated with the man before he was taken into custody and charged with multiple counts of assault, breaching a restraining order, and possessing a stolen firearm, among other charges.
