Tasmania's Liberal premier Will Hodgman has championed his good relationship with prime minister-designate Malcolm Turnbull.

During parliamentary question time on Tuesday the premier was quizzed by Labor on the election of Mr Turnbull to lead the federal Liberal party.

Mr Hodgman quoted recent comments made by Mr Turnbull during his time as communications minister: "I have a very good relationship with Will".

The premier acknowledged almost $1 billion in Tasmanian infrastructure investments that flowed from Canberra under the prime ministership of Tony Abbott.

He said the funds - used for highway extensions, an airport upgrade, an irrigation scheme and making Hobart an Antarctic hub - have been essential to generate jobs and drive growth.

"In looking to the future I share prime minister-designate Turnbull's enthusiasm for our state," Mr Hodgman said.

"I share in his optimism. I share in saying to Tasmanians that our best days are ahead."

The premier said he will continue to "work hard with the federal government" to achieve good outcomes for Tasmania and that included co-operating with Labor state and territory leaders.
