A man is in hospital after a wall collapsed in central Hobart.

The man suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Royal Hobart Hospital where he remains on Wednesday, Ambulance Tasmania says.

"No access to this area will be granted to any one at this time."

There is a severe weather warning in place for strong and damaging winds of around 70km/h with peak gusts up to 120km/h across most parts of the state on Wednesday, the SES says.
