Hobart death not suspicious: police

The death of a man whose body was found on a suburban Hobart walking track has been deemed not suspicious by police.

The 78-year-old was found at about 11.30am on Wednesday at Sandy Bay and detectives were investigating whether he died following an altercation which was reported nearby.

"(Police have) investigated a report of an altercation between the man and another person (and) we can now confirm the report of an altercation and the man's death are not connected," Detective Inspector Ian Whish-Wilson said on Thursday.
