Tasmania will receive $5 million from a national pool of just under $300 million in funding designed to help tackle the drug ice.

The funding will go to three service providers in the island state, as part of Canberra's $298 million National Ice Action Strategy to be rolled out next month.

"People's lives have been torn apart by drug and alcohol misuse, especially the scourge of ice. These new services will help reduce the current waiting times for treatment and help address the gaps in existing services," government senator Eric Abetz said on Wednesday.
