Federal budget shift suits Tasmania

More time between the federal budget and Tasmania's May 26 budget is a good thing, the island state's treasurer says.

Following news the nation's economic plan will be delivered on May 3 instead of May 10, Peter Gutwein said the shift is positive.

"All it will provide us with is a little bit longer to understand what's in the federal budget," he told reporters on Monday.
