North Tasmania bushfire threat downgraded

A bushfire in northern Tasmania has been downgraded from emergency level but remains uncontrolled.

The blaze at rural Winkleigh, about 35km northwest of Launceston, was placed at watch and act on Friday afternoon.

The Tasmania Fire Service says the fire, which sparked in hot and dry weather, could still pose a risk to properties at Winkleigh and Glengarry.
