Elderly man drives off Tasmanian wharf

An 85-year-old man has been pulled from the water after driving off a wharf on Tasmania's east coast.

Locals rescued the man after he veered off the wharf at Triabunna, more than 80km northeast of Hobart, on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The driver was hospitalised for treatment before being discharged while the car was expected to removed from the water on Wednesday.
