Disabled care claims unfounded: Tas govt

The Tasmanian government has moved to distance itself from a case of alleged mistreatment of a disabled man during his time in state-operated residential care.

ABC TV aired complaints by the man's mother, including that he was restrained by having pieces of furniture placed on top of him.

But Liberal Human Services Minister Jacquie Petrusma said the claims date from 2008 to 2014, when it was mainly the former Labor-Green government in power.

"Two separate investigations were undertaken by the department as a result of complaints ... with no evidence of abuse found," Mrs Petrusma said in a statement on Thursday.
