Dad faces court over Tas baby assault

A father has faced court over an alleged assault on his 11-week-old daughter who is in a critical condition in a Tasmanian hospital.

The 36-year-old Launceston man has been charged with three counts of criminal code assault on his infant daughter and one count of common assault on his 36-year-old wife.

He faced Hobart Magistrates Court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody until March 9.

Tasmania Police are still investigating whether further charges should be laid.
