Fire crews are using a helicopter and bulldozer to try and contain a blaze northeast of Hobart which has burnt more than 270 hectares of private land and state forest.

The fire started at about 12.30pm (AEDT) on Tuesday and is still burning a day later, helped by strong winds and dry conditions as parts of Tasmania remain on alert with a very high fire danger warning.

"There is currently no threat to life or properties," Tasmania Fire Service regional controller Neil Brooksbank said of the blaze at Runnymede, adding that it's burning through mostly inaccessible areas.
