A Hobart victim has been scammed out of $200,000 as part of a recent wave of cyber crime across Tasmania.

Investigators have identified three forms of fraud, one of which involves providing false bank details to debtors for the payment of bills although once transferred the funds are lost and the debt remains.

Detective Sergeant Gen Hickman cited a diverted payment of $200,000 to a Hobart company and a diverted payment of $20,000 from a Hobart-based payee to an interstate company, as she warned local businesses and individuals to beware of unexpected changes to their finance details.
