Cops should mind Tas wilderness: Brown

Former Australian Greens leader Bob Brown has called on the Tasmanian government to station police and rangers through parts of the state's Tarkine wilderness to protect the area from off-road enthusiasts.
The Federal Court on Tuesday ruled that the state government was wrong to open tracks through parts of Tasmania's culturally significant west coast, finding that such activities could damage the fragile landscape.
"Rangers and police should uphold the Federal Court's judgment, as with any other court decision," Dr Brown said in a statement issued on Thursday.
