A global information technology company which helps clients establish and maintain a digital profile is planning an expansion of its Hobart workforce, with 50 new jobs.

Two years after DXC Technology relocated from Sydney to Tasmania, it is set to double its staff numbers on the island, with help from a $1.36 million state government assistance package over five years.

"Tasmania has an exceptional base of talented and skilled IT workers and the 50 jobs this partnership will create will help provide real career paths for Tasmanians who want to work in the IT field in their home state," Treasurer Peter Gutwein said on Friday when announcing the deal.
