Cold front makes for hazardous roads

Parts of Hobart are being lashed by extreme weather including snow, ice and hail, with police warning motorists to take care.

The Bureau of Meteorology has a weather alert in place, with snow expected to 300 metres above sea level across east, west and central parts of Tasmania.

"The conditions are extremely hazardous," police said of some elevated roads in and around Hobart.
