Carry on with Anzac Day events: Tas police

Tasmanians are being urged by state leaders and police to go ahead as planned with Anzac Day events and not be put off by recent security threats elsewhere in Australia.

With crowd numbers expected at triple that of previous years for Hobart's dawn service and city march on Saturday, Deputy Commissioner Scott Tilyard said police will have a high-visibility presence.

"It's understandable that people might be anxious, but we need to reiterate that there is no information to indicate a security threat specific to Tasmania," he said.

Security fears were raised after Saturday's counter terrorism raids in Melbourne, in which five men were arrested on suspicion of planning an attack linked to Anzac Day commemorations.

Tasmanian Premier Will Hodgman said he has full confidence in the state's police ahead of Anzac Day, but added there is no room for complacency.

"Given what's happening around the world, given the threats that have been raised in other parts of our nation, we need to remain vigilant too," he told reporters on Monday.
