Call for Tas kids' care system oversight

Independent oversight is needed to monitor the safety and welfare of Tasmania's children in state care, the commissioner for young people says.

Mark Morrissey on Tuesday released seven recommendations aiming to improve the lives of children in out-of-home care.

"Kids in care don't have anyone who is independent and impartial to speak to about their lives and care arrangements. This must change," Mr Morrissey said, calling for the establishment of independent oversight to protect the children.
