Broad wins Braddon recount for Tas Labor

Agricultural scientist and local government councillor Shane Broad will make the move to Tasmania's lower house as a Labor MP after the retirement of party leader Bryan Green.

More than a fortnight after the opposition leader's shock move, the Tasmanian Electoral Commission on Tuesday confirmed Mr Broad won a recount to fill the vacancy in the northern electorate of Braddon.

Mr Broad won the recount ahead of former state Labor MP Brenton Best.
