Boy with lighter sparks Tas house fire

A seven-year-old boy playing with a lighter and some cardboard in his bedroom sparked a fire that caused $175,000 damage to a Hobart home.

Firefighters were called to Birubi Place in Herdsmans Cove, north of Hobart, about 2.30pm on Thursday to find the house alight.

The house was severely damaged, all the contents were destroyed, but everyone inside the house managed to escape.
