Aust man missing after quake alive

An Australian man missing in Nepal since Sunday's devastating earthquake has made contact with his family, who report he is safe but in need of medical attention.

Julien Tempone, 24, from Launceston, who has most recently been living in Canberra, was trekking in the Langtang National park area when the quake struck, the ABC reported.

His mother Jenny Wiltshire on Tuesday confirmed she had heard from her son who was at a small village where roads are impassable, waiting to be airlifted.

"I don't feel like he's out of the woods yet, I just feel like we've had that contact and he's still in a difficult situation and we'd like to see him moved to great safety," she told the ABC.

Ms Wiltshire said her son is sick but didn't expand on the seriousness or nature of his ailment.

Hobart social worker Jenny Davson-Galle, 29, is still missing after Sunday's 7.8 magnitude quake, in which more than 4300 people died.
