46yo charged over fatal Hobart home fight

A man has been charged with manslaughter after confronting and fatally stabbing another man in a Hobart home.

The 39-year-old victim was repeatedly stabbed in the violent brawl which spilled out onto the street on Monday morning after he arrived at the Lutana residence.

He later died in hospital and police charged a 46-year-old Moonah man with manslaughter on Tuesday morning.

The victim suffered multiple stab wounds, with punctures consistent with those caused by a sharp-edged knife.

Police said they had spoken briefly to the injured man before he died, adding he had breached a family violence order when he went to the home where a 36-year-old woman lives.

The men involved in the fight were known to each other, police said.

The 46-year-old will appear in Hobart Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
