Tas Libs ready for next 12 months: Hodgman

Tasmania's Liberal government has cited a boom in business confidence as a major success in its first year of power while outlining a plan to keep the momentum going.

Premier Will Hodgman, who has copped plenty of political flack since romping into power with a swing of 12 per cent, on Sunday marked one year in power.

He said the party had made significant progress, with rising business confidence a major achievement, but there was more work to be done.

The government's plan for the next 12 months is largely aimed at maintaining economic recovery and includes more than 80 policy objectives.

"There is a lot of positivity about Tasmania's future - it's our job to maintain that momentum, " Mr Hodgman told reporters on Sunday.

A budget, which included hundreds of public sector job cuts and the opening of Tasmania's protected wilderness areas for suitable development, raised the ire of unions and conservation groups.

Mr Hodgman said some tough decisions had to be made in his government's first year, but he didn't anticipate significant cuts ahead.

Opposition Leader Bryan Green said the Liberals had inherited a strengthening economy and were "too quick" to take credit for the work of the private sector.
