Residents lucky to be alive after Melbourne home sprayed with bullets

A man and a woman in their late 20s have escaped uninjured after their home was sprayed with bullets in Melbourne’s west.

Neighbours made the call to emergency services just after 12 o’clock this morning, when multiple rounds of gunshots were fired into the two-storey property on Caraleena Drive in Tarneit.

Bullets flew into the front of the house, penetrating the kitchen and bedroom, however both of the two people inside were unharmed.

The house remains cordoned off and under police guard as investigators work to uncover how the shooting happened.

A Victoria Police spokesman told TODAY that authorities are appealing for anyone with information or footage of the street to assist with inquiries.

“At this stage we have not made any arrests,” he said.

“We are appealing to the public for any witnesses to this incident and anyone who has CCTV footage or any dashcam footage, we are appealing that they contact Crime Stoppers.”

Ballistics detectives are expected to arrive on the scene shortly.
